KOMMUTE is a specially-designed line of apparel and bags that embraces functionality along with style. Technical design and cuts, fabrics, and trimmings are emphasized to provide comfort and protection from the harsh conditions of the urban lifestyle. Equipped to tackle the city’s swath of bicycle lanes, bus routes, and subway lines, KOMMUTE challenges you to forgo the automobile and to “move freely”.
This consumer analysis demonstrates the exact demographic the Kommute Line is targeted to. From Generation X to Generation Z, from first tier cities and urban areas to bike enthusiasts and gadget lovers. I’m breaking it down.
Specifically designed with the frequent traveler in mind, the hoodie design incorporates design elements to help you move safely, securely, and comfortably with your Everyday Carry Essentials.
In October 2020, I’ve decided to brush up on my apparel design knowledge and skills with a private course in basic pattern making at the Deqiu Art Center 得丘艺术馆 in Shanghai. That one-on-one course with a very experienced fashion design teacher took place over 1 month in 8 separate settings each around 2 hours long, where I learned how to build and create a piece of garment from scratch involving all the essential steps from measuring your body to drafting the pattern, cutting and sewing the fabric to a finalized piece of clothing which is ready to wear.
This line of commuter bags is made out of recycled paper pulp and wool and consists of messenger laptop bags, backpacks and combo backpack tote bags. The perfect companion for on the road to go hand in hand with your KOMMUTE gear.
From designing classic graphic t-shirts to hoodies and functional apparel up to accessories like fashion bags and trucker hats. I’m trying to show the whole design and creation process from concept and ideation stage to sampling, prototyping, labeling and packaging up to the final product.
I always wanted to create clothing which plays with typography. This hoodie commemorates Beijing with the Chinese 京 ( jing) character. You have to put your hands in your pockets to create the Jing character. People who understood, loved the play with words. It became a very popular hoodie in Beijing during 2012 to 2017.
Having designed and sold 100+ t-shirt designs including men, women and kids styles, I still believe the t-shirt is the ultimate casual garment. It is as personal and intimate as it gets but it also could be a form of expression, a personal statement or just showing your admiration for your favorite brand.
